Has your schedule ever been so packed that you realize you will have to sacrifice a little sleep to make it to the gym? Is this the healthiest option, though? Harvard sleep experts say no.
Cutting back on sleep for the sake of exercise is not a good idea. Adequate sleep is necessary for a good workout and for recovery following exercise. Your body will wear down faster if you sacrifice your nighttime z’s for a workout. If you find yourself pressed for time a quick, high intensity workout or short exercises throughout the day will be more beneficial for your overall health. Try a 20-minute HIIT workout, or the “deskercises” here throughout the day.
